<p>At any rate, I learned how to make yellow rice that day. In addition, turmeric is a great food coloring.</p>
<p>The more I started researching and listening to natural health enthusiast, the more I became excited about turmeric. Of course it isn’t new after all. People have been using turmeric for centuries. So why are there still many people who don’t use it?</p>

<p>Are you that mom that gives your child Benadryl with the sign of a little sniffle? Or maybe if their throat feels a little scratchy,  you get out the throat spray.</p>
<p>I am not fussing at you, if that works fine, however, can you consider another way?</p>
<p>Have you considered your child may not be coming down with ‘something’ he/she may have a food allergy?</p>
<p>According to Food Allergy &amp; Education (FARE), researchers estimate that up to 15 million Americans have food allergies.</p>
<p>Sometimes it can take hours or days before their body shows a reaction to something. So what should you do?</p>

<li>What are you doing, or taking to give your child&#8217;s body what it needs?</li>

<p>We keep a lot of thyme around the house to help support our immune system. You can make a thyme tea or ‘cough syrup’ and just keep the excess in the frig.</p>
<p>We’ve used this recipe for a few years and even some of my extended family uses it as their ‘go to’.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="color: #0000ff;">Thyme Tea / ‘Cough Syrup’</span></strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="color: #0000ff;">2 cups of water</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #0000ff;"> 1 cup of thyme</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #0000ff;"> 1/2 to 1 cup of honey</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #0000ff;"> lemon juice/oil optional</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #0000ff;"> peppermint oil optional</span></strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>Directions:</strong></span></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="color: #0000ff;">-Bring 2 cups of water to a boil.</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #0000ff;"> -Pour in 1 cup of thyme, turn off the stove, and cover.</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #0000ff;"> -Let stand until cool.</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #0000ff;"> -Strain and pour into a jar.</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #0000ff;"> -Add honey and shake well.</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #0000ff;"> -Store in the refrigerator and use as needed.</span></strong></p>

<p>Budgeting isn&#8217;t fun but it is so beneficial. Whether you shop once a month or twice a week, there needs to be money set aside for purchasing food for your family. It&#8217;s always nice to be in control of where your money is going.</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>Meal planning</strong> is no different than planning your appointments or organizing activities. It is one of the most important things on your to do list. Want to eat healthier, plan for it!</p></blockquote>
<p>This should be a priority, planning ensures that you are putting your best effort into finding meals that make your child feel happy! In addition, you want them to keep feeling &#8216;healthy&#8217;.</p>

<p>Now when you are deciding what types of  meats you want to buy, you want to make sure of course there is minimal processing. If there is a long list of ingredients that you don&#8217;t understand, don&#8217;t buy it.</p>
<p>If your child can tolerate grains, make sure that you research the ingredients because there could be hidden ingredients or foods processed in the same facility as some of the foods your child may be allergic to.<br />
As always, you can&#8217;t go wrong with fresh fruits and veggies.</p>
<p>2. <strong>  Support Local Farmers.</strong>This is a great opportunity to give back to the community and support farmers in your area.</p>
<p>You have an opportunity to start building relationships with farmers and learn about their processes in providing food for the community.</p>
<p>3.   <strong>Help Decrease Inflammation</strong>. You want to decrease digestive upsets and the difficulty with nutrient absorption.</p>
<p>I know you want to do your best to make sure your child is eating foods that bring more healing to the gut and less inflammation.</p>
<p>Leafy greens have been proven to decrease inflammation as well as berries. As always do your own research.</p>
<p>4.  <strong> Increase Energy.</strong> Who doesn&#8217;t need more energy? Science has proven that some foods can give you a temporary &#8216;high&#8217; then bring your body crashing down.</p>
<p>There are other foods that can provide a little more sustaining energy throughout the day. If you homeschool like we do, you want to give them a great boost of veggies in the morning in the form of a smoothie or a breakfast stir-fry.</p>
<p>This will help keep them alert&#8230;at least until lunch time! Cling to those foods that give an extra boost.</p>
<p>5.  <strong> Mood Booster.</strong>  This is closely related to the benefit of, <em>Increase Energy</em>, When you have energy you are in a better mood. When you are in a better mood you have more energy and you are less stressful.</p>
<p>Real wholesome foods can help boost your child&#8217;s mood, especially when they are out with friends and maybe they can&#8217;t have certain foods.</p>
